Apartment design concept

the brief...

Studio Speck had such fun designing this concept for a luxury apartment

The brief was to design a 2-bed apartment with an open plan kitchen/lounge/diner and produce 3d shaded and rendered 3d images. We used the same flooring throughout to uplift the design (this can also make your home/apartment feel larger than it is) as using the same flooring throughout gives a seamless, luxurious finish and look and is the easiest way to bring all your spaces together for a cohesive and dateless interior.

What was involved:

new flooring

decorations

furniture

lighting & electrics

Design time: 2 weeks

Here you can see the difference between a rendered 3d image (left) and a shaded 3d image (right). A lot more design time goes into a fully rendered image as we play around with design finishes and how lighting affects the scene. There is no substitute for experience in making scenes as realistic as possible while considering what products you can procure within the lead-time, what each item costs, and how it affects your overall budget.

For this design concept, we used Foyr by Neo software but we also use Revit, AutoCAD and Photoshop to help communicate and demonstrate the design to our clients. As you can see, they are quite different but help clients and contractors visualise what we are trying to achieve in the overall look and feel for the space and how they all work together. Every design concept will be down to the individual brief from the client. As designers, we bring expertise in what will work, and what a realistic budget and timescale will look like so there are no surprises. The more we can plan and the earlier we can get involved, the better the outcome and spend will be. It's all about the planning.
